Worst Than Scum!
While on my way to work this morning, on my normal freeway, I was driving behind a compact car. All of a sudden, I see a 'spark' flicker out from the driver's window. I immediately identified it as a cigarette ash. (this is still littering, people!)
Then after 2 minutes of driving, I see a tiny white material fly out from the driver's car. As it hit the ground, I saw that it was a cigarette bud. That was the last straw for me. This is NOT the only time I've seen buds getting thrown out on freeways.
Are You A Litter Bug?
If you done any of these things, you're a litter bug!
- Placed used paper cups or trash on parking lots because you don't want them any more but too lazy to go to a near by trash bin.
- Throw tiny little things out of the car window, while driving, such as cigarettes, wrappers, etc.
- Basically, didn't utilize the trash bin and treat anything around you as your personal 'trash' area.
This is what I will have to tell you. I, myself, was once a litter bug so I know the ease of throwing things out whenever and whereever you like...thinking that the 'city' or some other company worker will be cleaning it up anways; however, I have taken time to look at the big picture now...and here is what I'll share with all you litter bugs.
If you treat your environment as-if it was a gigantic trash bin...what is the difference between you and pup who goes any where and wherever he/she likes (including your sofa, carpet, etc). There is absolutely NO difference. However, just as you would cherish your own house or car, cherish the world you live in. In fact, the pup may be a better being, because he/she is trained to go 'outside' (similar to throwing trash at specified places)...but you, supposedly with a bigger brain and being smarter, cannot distinguish this act!
If everybody thinks like you...then maybe the next time people walk near your yard or your front yard, they'll just take place their trash right there....knowing that some folk will throw it out. How about, while parking outside of the parking lot, somebody just places their McDonald's bag on the top of your car...knowing you'll dispose of it (somehow)....
Just because you don't own public property, doesn't mean you should destroy it with inconsiderate acts such as littering! Think about the safety next time when people leave glass on a beach...knowing somebody will clean it up...and when next time you step on a piece of trash, think about your contribution factor!
SO DON'T LITTER! Make this world a better place! Be a better person!
