The Agony of Holding Your Breath

In one instance, your life could for the better or it could remain the same. This is the agony of waiting for that job interview appointment and waiting for the response of the company after the interview. These are the moments where your daily lives could change....and your thoughts ponder away from your current work environment and wonder to the brand new adventure that may await you in the near future.

Two people that I know are now dealing or have dealt with this sort of agony of 'holding your breath' for the past 2 - 4 weeks. When companies don't call back at a certain frame, say 1 week, your mind starts to wonder to these self-criticizing questions:
  • Why didn't they call yet?
  • Why didn't they choose me?
  • I was enthusiastic about the position, Why didn't they think I was a good fit?
  • Who else could have done a better job at that position?

and many more thoughts. This is what I called 'No Man' zone where no man or woman would want to be in. The thoughts of a pre-rejection causes so much intra-personal turmoil that it is hard to concentrate at anything else because your hopes, your dreams, your future...is still in the air of uncertainty.

However, on the brighter side is, if you survive the 'No Man' zone and the company does call, all of a sudden you become so elated and relieved that you just have to shout and sing. On the downer side, if your worst thoughts do come true, what do you then? Your life has not changed any yet there is a grave sense of disappointment of moving onward at the same pace you've been going before.

To all those out there who are 'holding your breath', I hope your lives will be filled with lots of exciting adventures where your most positive thoughts and dreams will come true. Don't hold your breath for that one job...continue on other conquests and new adventures. A change is a change, may it be your job, your life, your environment...you will get through this...'Just Breathe'!

Welcome To Yuppie-ville

While chatting about potential neighborhoods with my roommie, Brenda, Yuppie-ville was mentioned. Where we live in doesn't really consider yuppie-ville since its pretty diversed. However, the city where I work, is definitely a yuppie-ville.

You may ask how do I know that?

Well, funny, you should ask. I was at the post office today in my work city and usually post office are busy and full of disgruntled people. However, in this particular post office, cookies and coffee were served....and not just any type of cookies. I actually had a choice of sugar cookies or chocolate chip.

I have never encounter such an event. Don't get me wrong, I don't live in the hoods either but this type of 'service' was....refreshing!

Thus, I classify this area as Yuppie-ville!

BTW, I'm sure it was about a special promo or something but even then, I haven't seen this before....so Welcome To Yuppie-ville!

Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuppie for the definition of Yuppie...and something call a Yuppie-Flu!

Hmmm....maybe I have the Yuppie-Flu?
